Who are your favorite people to be around?

The world always presents you with all kinds of people and situations. The kind of people you surround yourself with can greatly impact your mindset, success, and overall well-being. In order to build and maintain your peace of mind, here are some favourable types of people to be around:

  1. People who support and encourage you – Those who uplift you, celebrate your wins, and offer a helping hand during tough times are good people
  2. People who are Positive and Optimistic – People with a positive outlook on life can inspire you and keep negativity at bay.
  3. People who are Honest and Trustworthy – Those who give you genuine feedback and can be relied on.
  4. Ambitious and Hardworking Individuals – These people push you to be better and motivate you to achieve your goals.
  5. Mentors and Knowledgeable People – Being around experts or those more experienced than you can help you grow personally and professionally.
  6. People Who Challenge You – Surround yourself with people who offer constructive criticism and can engage you in intellectual debates to help you develop and improve.
  7. People who are Emotionally Intelligent and Kind – These are people who understand and respect your emotions, making interactions smooth and meaningful.
  8. Like-Minded Individuals – Having people with shared values and interests helps in fostering deep and meaningful connections.
  9. Solution-Oriented Thinkers – these are people who, instead of complaining, they focus on finding solutions and making progress.
  10. Ethical and Principled People – People who have a high level of integrity and strong moral values help build trust and long-term relationships.

Because of the nature of the world, getting people who are not negative or toxic around you may be challenging, it is important to identify some strategies to protect your peace and maintain a positive environment. Some of these strategies include:

  1. Identify Toxic Traits – Watch out for signs like constant negativity, manipulation, excessive criticism, or energy-draining behaviours.
  2. Set Boundaries – Be clear about what you will and won’t tolerate, and politely distance yourself when necessary.
  3. Stay Calm and Composed – Don’t let the negativity of people affect your mood. Stay neutral and avoid engaging in unnecessary arguments.
  4. Limit Your Exposure – To avoid negative situations and people, if possible, reduce the time you spend with them, especially if they consistently bring stress into your life.
  5. Don’t Take Things Personally – Negative people often project their frustrations onto others. Remind yourself that their behaviour is about them, not you.
  6. Be Assertive, Not Aggressive – If you need to confront someone about their behaviour, do it calmly and respectfully. Express your feelings without attacking them.
  7. Surround yourself with positivity – most times, counteract negativity by spending more time with uplifting, supportive individuals.
  8. Focus on Solutions, Not Complaints – always encourage people to think positively, but if they resist, don’t get drawn into their negativity.
  9. Practice Self-Care – Engage in activities that help you recharge emotionally, like exercise, meditation, or hobbies.
  10. Know When to Walk Away – If someone constantly drains your energy without adding value to your life, it might be best to let go of the relationship.

Sometimes, a situation may present where someone is always nice to your face but talks negatively behind your back. This is a person who is often insincere and possibly manipulative. Such people can be handled effectively in the following ways:

  1. Observe and confirm – Make sure their behaviour is a pattern and not just a misunderstanding.fif you hear the negative talk from others, consider the credibility of the source.
  2. Avoid Confrontation (Unless Necessary) – If the gossip isn’t directly harming you, it may be best to ignore it. However, if it’s damaging your reputation, you might need to address i.

  4. Confront negative people Calmly (If Needed). If their actions are affecting you you can ask them to address it with you directly.
  5. Strengthen Your True Relationships – Spend more time with genuine, trustworthy people who uplift you. If others bring you the gossip, tell them you’re not interested in negativity.
  6. Set Boundaries – Reduce the time and energy you invest in negative persons. If possible, remove them from your inner circle completely.
  7. Maintain Your Integrity – Do not stoop to the levels of negative people by gossiping back. Continue being your authentic self, and in time, others will see the truth.
